Sarah Millican was born on 29th May 1975, in South Shields, England. She was a quiet child and didn’t have many friends at school. Today, Sarah Millican is a famous stand-up comedian and tells jokes on the stage in front of thousands of people!

After she finished school, Sarah worked in an office. She liked to make jokes but didn’t think about doing it as a job. In 2004, her whole life changed. Sarah had been married to Andrew Millican since 1997. But now, after seven years of marriage, he suddenly left her, and Sarah moved back in with her parents. She was very sad and wanted to do something to cheer herself up, so she tried stand-up comedy. This was the beginning of her career. Sarah’s first jokes were all about her failed marriage, and about living with her parents as an adult.

Sarah had never been to a comedy club before she first performed on stage in 2004. But only four years later, she appeared at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This is the world’s biggest performance arts festival, and you can see many famous comedians there. There, Sarah even won an award for best new comedian! Things also went well in her private life. In 2006, she started dating Gary Delaney, who is also a comedian. They married in 2013.

Today, Sarah Millican is one of Britain’s most successful comedians. People love her jokes. She often tells embarrassing but funny stories from her life. Sarah is honest and funny, but always kind. She loves to talk with her audience during her shows, and calls them “pet” or “flower”. This is common in the north of England, where she grew up.
