Reading: Will You Watch the ESC?

The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) is on TV again this year. Many countries take part. Each country sends one singer or group. They sing live on stage. After the songs, people can vote for their favourite. Some people watch Eurovision every year, but other people do not like it very much.

We asked five readers: Will you watch Eurovision this year?

1. Anna (Poland)

I always watch the Eurovision Song Contest with my family. It is our tradition. We prepare snacks and give points to our favourite songs. Sometimes we even vote. I love the different languages and cultures. For me, Eurovision is not only a music show – it brings people together.

2. Marco (Italy)

I don’t usually watch Eurovision. I prefer other music competitions. Sometimes I think the Eurovision songs are a bit strange. The costumes and shows are interesting, but the music is not always my style. This year I might watch the final if I have time.

3. Sofia (Sweden)

Of course I will watch it! In my country, Eurovision is very popular. When ABBA won many years ago, it was a big moment for Sweden. I enjoy seeing new artists and discovering new songs. I also like that I can join in by voting. There is always a great mood at the show, which I love.

4. Daniel (Austria)

I’m not sure if I will watch it this year, even though it is taking place in Austria. Some of my friends will be going to the event. I think the show is very slow and finishes very late at night. I prefer looking at the results online. I think the voting system is interesting, especially how different countries give points.

5. Eleni (Greece)

Yes, I will definitely watch Eurovision! My friends and I are planning a small party. We want to see the staging, the lights and the dancing. I don’t really care who wins. I just enjoy the atmosphere and the fun.
